Today was the first day of school at Wingra. As is tradition, we go for half-days in the first week. This year I have a pretty great class: seven boys and eleven girls. Most of them had read Harry Potter 7 over the summer.
Roya went in to school to promote Drama Club and Pep Band for the freshmen. In the evening she went to the boys’ soccer game. Tomorrow is her first real day of school. She’s hurrying to finish Lord of the Flies for AP US Lit. by class time.
It was a great Labor Day weekend. On Sunday and Monday I didn’t go anywhere. I just worked around the house, did school stuff, and read The Magician’s Assistant by Ann Patchett.
It’s really, really good.
