Everyone is safe and sound

So yeah, it started to rain right on schedule (like, 3:00 a.m.); Papa got up at 4:30 and was out the door by 5:00.  He had a long, treacherous drive to work.  Eli, who stayed overnight in Madison, slithered to the last bus that ran before they pulled ’em off the streets.  At 8:00, when a normal sane person would get up, it was pouring and 31.5 degrees, but you don’t have to take my word for it.
It’s hard to tell, but everything is coated in ice.
Like the deck; and the driveway was flooded on top of the ice.

Then it started to snow, and covered up the ice.  The heavy, wet snow on top of the ice brought a lot of branches down, luckily for us none hit our house or power lines.

The honeysuckle is coated with ice and snow. Who knows what the birds are thinking?

After that, the camera batteries died, so you are spared the endless pics of the snow, the chocolate-chunk cookies that Roya made, the chili, biscuits, roasted potatoes and tortilla strips that I made, and a picture of our latest home furnishing.  (I assure you, that one will be stunning.)

Oh, but I like endless pictures, especially of cookies and other food. And now you’ve got my interest piqued about the new home furnishings. 🙂 I’m glad everyone made it into Madison and back safely. I slipped around the sidewalks here all day, trying not to step in the huge puddles, but fell at one point. Hopefully better conditions tomorrow!
