The race against time….

…… before all of that produce spoils, of course!  This is another Thank You Claudia! post, because what’s on this plate is all from her, grown by Gardens to Be.

Roasted new potatoes; roasted brussells sprouts (recipe from Veganomicon); steamed chard.

Yesterday Papa harvested the last couple of baby cabbages.  They went into a recipe for Bombay Cabbage and Tofu, or something like that, from Lorna Sass’ Shortcut Vegetarian Cooking.  Served here with dal and rice…

I should have put a quarter down next to the cabbages before photographing it all; those are tiny cabbages next to tiny ears of popcorn, which is all we got…

The larger news on the homestead is that we are in the process of getting an actual sidewalk from the driveway to the house.  I know, I’m sure that come winter I’ll miss the uneven stepping stones whose crevices fill with ice and are impossible to shovel.  But I’ll have to learn to live with it.    The space was created yesterday but they couldn’t pour the cement because it was raining.  Today it is merely gray and cold and windy, so far.  I hope that hanging out the laundry wasn’t a mistake!

Wow, what beautiful produce! And it’s awesome you + Claudia grew it all. Amazing.
Thanks also for the gratuitous picture of leaves. ;-p
And: sidewalk?! First the ‘old kitchen,’ and now a sidewalk. What might be next….gutters?

Not yet…. but Lonnie and Matt actually came back today; check tomorrow’s post, as it’s too dark to take a good picture indoors (although that didn’t stop me from taking a crummy photo of dinner đŸ™‚
