Darkness at Noon

Or four-thirty, or whatever, but it’s happening waaaaay too early in the afternoon for my tastes.
Last night we made a very brown mushroom cream sauce with seitan in it and had it over rice.  I wanted to show off the handful of minuscule brussels sprouts we got from the garden.  Each is the size of a marble, and we ate the whole crop in one meal!!!

This evening we made our favorite peanut sauce from Vegan With a Vengeance and ate it over buckwheat soba noodles.  Another brown sauce, even though there were chopped scallions and steamed vegetables to go with them.  So, no photo 😉

    Brussels marbles are very cute! Hopefully they were super tasty.

      They were! Have you ever tried the roasted brussels sprouts from V-con? We did with some store-bought sprouts and they were pretty good too!

        I really have to try that vcon recipe, everybody always talks about it.
        I also want to try this recipe from the new vegan that has soba noodles, a miso sauce and brussels sprouts. that’s been on my list for over 5 years now – you see how good I am at getting to that list 🙂

    mmm, brussel sprouts look good… Here in Japan (Kobe) it gets dark by 5 p.m. too!!
    And: I ate soba today also. How’s that for solidarity? Even if I had to go to Japan to do so…
