In today’s New York Times, we learn that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has been helping the Domino’s Pizza chain market pizzas with extra cheese. This is the same USDA that created the new Food Pyramid, including the new pyramid for kids, which specifically advises limiting one’s intake of saturated fat.
One slice of Domino’s new cheesier pizza contains up to two thirds the recommended amount of saturated fat. And you’re probably thinking what I’m thinking, right? Like, who can eat just one slice?
If you want to read the entire article, here it is, but I’m telling you – reading it could raise your blood pressure, even without eating the cholesterol!
This week I was ingrigued by a post on Andrea’s blog about a Brazilian black bean and portobello mushroom stew, so I just had to try making it (especially as the shopper came home with that type of mushroom). I made it this evening, but we had to eat early (Packer game) so dinner was leftovers, and we’ll try it tomorrow!
