School’s Out For the Summer!

Come on, sing it with me.  You know you want to.

Today was our last day of school – for the kids! (Teachers have meetings all next week.) We packed up the classroom, played games and shared our favorite memories of the year.  Then I came home and threw all the kids’ cloth napkins in the wash…ready for September!

It was HOT out – just like summer vacation should be!  That stuff dried in less than two hours!  I made a summer dinner (this “Israeli” couscous) with garden chives.

Soon there will be a lot more, but for now stuff is just coming up.

Here are some photos of the yard before everything goes wild.

An artistically piled bunch of sticks.

Asparagus!

  1. yay! congrats! and your couscous looks incredible! yum! thanks for sharing!

  2. The napkins remind me of prayer flags. I miss your yard, and seeing the green and growing photos reinforces my thought you need to put up a more summery header. 🙂

We just got back from seeing the Toby Maguire film, The Details, at SIFF. Jordan was an extra and he made the final cut for about 5 seconds. But, it’s 5 seconds of basketball dribbling, so he’s happy. The film isn’t the greatest, but it was stupidly entertaining.

Have a great time tomorrow, and take lots of pictures to share.

  3. Congratulations on the end of your school year! I love the picture of all of the cloth napkins drying in the breeze. I bet they smell wonderful. There’s nothing like the freshness of things that have dried in the sun.
